Session Description

Less than 3% of all certified aircraft technicians are women. Yet airlines and aircraft manufacturers frequently seek female technicians because of their attention to detail and ability to excel in the workplace. In 2023, Aviation Institute of Maintenance hired the professional documentary team at Auroris Media to document the personal, academic, and professional lives of its female students, and in 2025, the world premier of the final 100-minute feature film will be released under the title, "Tradeswomen." In this presentation, Dr. Joel English, CEO of AIM, and Stephen Peek, the owner of Auroris Media, will tell the story of the filming, storytelling, and marketing of Tradeswomen, and they will play several clips of the film, to be released in September. This session demonstrates how career schools can engage in creative media projects to highlight the skills of their students and make underrepresented populations aware of career pathways.
