Thursday, May 29, 2025
11:30 AM - 12:30 PM PT
Room: 367
Session Description
Regulatory whiplash is defined as swift changes in regulatory policy as a result of a new Administration, or new government. Over the last several decades, the higher education sector has experienced regulatory whiplash with the transition from the Obama Administration to the Trump Administration, with the Trump Administration to the Biden Administration, and now the Biden Administration back to the Trump Administration. In order to effectuate more permanent change in the higher education sector, it is necessary that Congress finally reauthorize the Higher Education Act. This session will outline the reauthorization process, potential reauthorization provisions, advocacy efforts and why institutions should care.
