Dr. Julie Basler served as President and Vice President of Academic Affairs for more than 18 years at Platt College in Greenwood Village, Colorado. Dr. Basler earned her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM), a master’s degree in English with a creative writing emphasis from Murray State University and a doctorate in English with a focus on English composition and rhetoric from Middle Tennessee State University. In Fall 2023, Dr. Basler was named The University of Tennessee (Martin) Outstanding Alumnus of the Year. She serves as a University of Tennessee Promise Scholar Mentor. Dr. Basler is an inaugural member of the CECU Research Foundation Board, where she currently serves as chair. In December of 2022, Dr. Basler was named one of the “Top 20 People Changing Career Education" in the Career Education Review. She is also currently a sitting commissioner for the Colorado Commission for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deafblind. In this role she represents hard of hearing adults in the state of Colorado and reviews legal auxiliary services rules, corresponding policies, and procedures, and help in overseeing the state’s grant money. She was appointed by Colorado Governor Jared Polis to serve a four-year term through 2026. She resides in Highlands Ranch, Colorado where she works in higher education through her company Basler Academy.
